About Us
Toil & Trouble is a small hand-dyed yarn and notions company, based out of Salem, Massachusetts. Toil & Trouble was founded in 2008 as a knitwear company, and evolved into a line of hand-dyed fibers in 2010.
Toil & Trouble was born in Salem, Massachusetts, the Witch City! Created by Fiber Witch Ana Campos, Toil & Trouble features a collection of deeply saturated and moody colorways inspired by all things bookish, nerdy, and witchy. Ana also explores her Brazilian roots in her colorways.
Toil & Trouble also features a growing line of stickers, enamel pins, and knitting and crochet notions based on Ana's original hand illustrations.
Our yarns are hand-dyed in small batches by our small team in our dye studio!
Ana Campos - Founder & Owner
Ana started dyeing yarn in her kitchen in 2010, and finally moved out of her kitchen into a studio in 2023. Ana still develops our colorways and recipes.
Joyce Li - Lead Dyer
Joyce joined Toil & Trouble in 2024, and her chemistry degree has really come in handy! Joyce does a great job recreating Ana's recipes and dyeing up all our yarns.
A.J. Mariano - Studio Assistant
A.J. helps the studio run smoothly! From helping rinse, twist, and tag the yarns, to helping us set up our booth at events, to being our token extrovert, we couldn't do it all without A.J.!
