A convenient kit to make your own Cowl of the Underworld!

The Cowl of the Underworld was designed by Ana Campos, festival founder, in celebration of the 2025 Salem Fiber Witch Festival theme: The Coronation of Persephone, Queen of the Underworld.

In the myth of Persephone, she becomes Queen of the Underworld after consuming pomegranate seeds while visiting the Underworld.

The design features elegant filigrees, moon phases, and pomegranates, and is knit up in the colorways created for the Festival: Toil & Trouble Cadence DK in Fruit of the Underworld and Crossing the Threshold. 

Also available as an individual knitting pattern.

This kit includes 2 skeins of Toil & Trouble Cadence DK, one in each color, and a digital copy of the Cowl of the Underworld Knitting pattern.

  • Size 1: 20” (51 cm) circumference x 10” (25.5 cm) tall
  • Size 2: 24” (61 cm) circumference x 10” (25.5 cm) tall

Gauge needle: 
US 7 (4.50 mm) 24” (60 cm) circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Ribbing Needle:
US 6 (4.00 mm) 24” (60 cm) circular needles or one size smaller than gauge needle

Gauge:
24 sts x 28 rows = 4” (10 cm) in colorwork pattern in the round, after gentle blocking
